Thanks Uncle Dominic!

New home

Hey everyone.  The Bakers are now in our new house in Georgetown.  We officially move in on Monday, but we have a few things here and dad has been helping us paint.  The kids have been bouncing off the walls with excitement after being in the apartment for the last two months.   Our email will stay the same for now, but we do have the internet again.  We do not have a home phone yet, but we are working on it.  Well, I will email soon with an update and pictures.

presents for Nina

Hello everone.   Some of you were inquiring about presents for Nina.   I'm a
little lot myself if it is not trains and trucks.   Mom(Ruth) and I are buying
Nina a kitchen.   At Walmart and Big Lots they have play food, pots and
pans...etc.    Clothes 18 months and up, she if rappidly growing out of 12 months.
We looked at dolls and little people.   Really any girly toy she can grow
into will be fine.   Jewelry is always good.   Walmart has some inexpensive gold
earings(the toddler earings are too small).   I figure Kristin and Dani might
have some ideas too.

JJ's three/Baker update

Hey everyone.  As most of you know JJ is now three.  Where did the time go?  We took him to his check up and he was 39 inches tall and 34.4 pounds, which puts him over the 75% in weight and height.  The doctor said he is on track to be at least 6foot.

It has been a crazy week.  Jj has decided it is ok to use his potty, sometimes.  Nina has decided it is fun to walk and climb.  Josh has had a productive year at work, leading his post is most everything.  This includes his favorite, criminal patrol, in which he already has ten for the year.  As if life wasn't crazy enough, we finally got word that Josh's transfer went through.  The effective date is February 4, 2007.  Josh will be going to the Georgetown post.  As for me, on top of chasing two small chidren and trying to keep the house in order, now it is trying to sell a house and pack.  Fortunately we have 4 1/2 months to do this.

Well thats all for now, Nina is trying to help me type. Talk to everyone soon.

An overview

|

Hello Again,

We’ll we have made it through one week here in texas. I still feel as if we are on vacation. We have unpacked almost all of the 200+ boxes and actually started to hang pictures. we survived the plane flight down and even rosie made it through. Our first few days were spent in the hotel with lots of whining and shouts of “WE’re Bored or Mark wont quit it!” We actually moved in on Monday, in the rain. The men who came to unload were a 100% better than those in columbus. We found only some minor breakage, although the third party company did manage to rewire the dryer wrong and blow a breaker, oh yea then lie about it. Monday night we made a quick stop at the grocery for breakfast foods figuring we would do major shopping when the kids were not in tow. Then Tuesday came with the flood. So Tuesday we had cereal all day, which no one but mark complained about. Even with the tv and radio warnings of flash floods and to stay inside, mark insisted we could make it to the grocery for some real food. So Tuesday we watched as the street behind us turned into a river, constantly went around changing towels where the leaks were, unpacking boxes and listening to kids fight. IT WAS GREAT. Emma only had three breakdowns to screams of “I wish we had never moved.” and “I hate this house.” Wednesday, it rained, but we were able to make it to the store, yea, for real food. And boy are prices expensive. I 32 oz can of coffee her is $10 just for Folgers. Almost makes me want to stop drinking coffee, Ok i said almost. Thursday dad went back to work and Mom spent the morning thinking “what the hell did i think when i was agreeing to this.” and listening to the rain. Fortunately we met our neighbors. They have 5 kids an one for everyone to play with. AMEN. Elizabeth, the mom, even was kind enough to make us dinner, our first real meal in our new house. So the kids got out and played and were much, much happier. By friday the kids were, yes still fighting, but they said they liked our new house now that their stuff was not in boxes. The boys started building a massive sand castle, complete with drawbridge, oh did I mention that IT RAINED. Emma and Mark discovered fire ants, which started a breakdown and an hour worth of crying oh yea, and a run to the store for ant spray. Yesterday the third party company came to set up the swing set and the basket ball hoop. This was quite entertaining for the kids. John spent the morning on the roof caulking. I did laundry and started to hang pictures. OH yea IT RAINED. So today John is planning to cut the grass which should take about 5 minutes since most of it is dead. I may actually venture out by myself, shhh, don’t tell the kids. And later we get to leak test the roof repairs, yipee. Yes, and we are expecting rain. Hope all is we’ll with ya’ll.

Love from Texas,
kristin

Florence

|

When I went to brunch with my neighbors I found out that one of my neighbors' sister lives in Florence. What are the odds? I think she works for one of the Schools in the foreign exchange program, but part of her job is tours. My neighbors Susan and Tony are going to give me her email address so I can get in touch with her and maybe she can give us a tour or some of the local insight on Florence. Very Cool.
